POND AND WATERFALL CONSTRUCTION
In the beginning there was a dream...
And as with every landscape dream, it must begin with a landscape plan. Working together with our client and a blank canvas, OGS Landscape Services, Aquascape’s Certified Contractor, we design a plan that brings the patio, sitting area, deck and water feature all together.

Pond and Patio construction prep begins...
While the deck people are busy building the deck, OGS Landscape Services is busy preparing the area for the pond and patio area. Excavating the area before the project begins is just a small but critical part of the overall landscape.
Grading, positioning, and drainage are all elements that are crucial to the overall success of the pond/patio landscape. Nothing can be overlooked, and everything is double-checked!

Placing the Pond...
With the landscape plan in hand, it is most exacting. Pond preparation is all consuming, as all other elements of the landscape are going to be in relation to the position of the pond.
Once the outline is exact, shaping, shelving, and depth is prepared by hand and machine. Grading for the water flow and waterfall is very important, as well as maintaining grade for the patio and sitting areas.
OGS Landscape Service spends the time on pond preparation before the liner is installed.

Installing the Pond Liner...
Once the pond has been prepared, it is time to lay the liner. Every effort is made to use larger pieces of liner to prevent any seaming. Quite often, liner is ordered to exact sizing, with extra footage around the perimeter to prevent any backflow or seepage.

And then came the...
Natural Rocks and decorative stone. Aquascape Pond Systems work well with Granite and Decorative type stone.
Therefore, larger pieces of stone are chosen for the perimeter and waterfalls to create the natural look the Aquascape Certified Contractor is seeking. Aquascape Pond systems are meant to look natural in their environment so rock placement should look natural. Creating pockets of space to add interest and potential plant material is a large part of landscaping; so much care is given to the overall placement and look of the rockery.

The Pond is...
Planted so that is has a natural look, as well as practical. Plant material is selected with Maintenance in mind. Plant material should be pleasing to the eye, natural to the existing environment, and friendly to the critters in the neighbourhood.
Sitting on the new patio or deck, the client is able to enjoy the sweet song of birds, hear the fluttering of butterflies, enjoy the beauty of the surroundings, and relax to the soothing sounds of the waterfalls.
